Day 4 - Course & Anchorage

The fourth days sail was a great opportunity to learn a little about sailing in the rain. Really just a very quite sprinkle. We left GORDA SOUND with low clounds on the eastern horizon. We sailed north of the "Dogs" ... SEAL DOG, GEORGE DOG, GREAT DOG, WEST DOG, and then the COCKROACH ISLANDS. At this point we made note of our heading and planned our route in case of loosing visibility. After about a 30 minute rain shower, with no heavy wind to speak of, we came into the narrows between SCRUB and GREAT CAMANOE ISLANDS. We stopped on MARINA CAY to take on water and pick up some food items. From there we sailed between BEEF ISLAND and LITTLE CAMANOE, between TORTOLA and GUANA ISLAND, and made a mostly straight shot to LITTLE JOST VAN DYKE where we spent the night anchored by the deserted beach of MANCHINEEL BAY. Little Jost Van Dyke is the birthplace of the founder of the London Medical Society and the Royal Humane Society. He was a humerous man and wrote the following:

I, John Lettsome,
Blisters, bleeds and sweats'em.
If, after that, they please to die
I, John Lettsome.

The beach on Machineel Bay on Little Jost Van Dyke. We snorkeled, swam, built sand castles and walked the beach on our last night on the water. All good things must come to an end . . .
