First Sailing Cruise

In Early June of 2001, my wife and I took a trip of a lifetime ... I highly recommend it for anyone who can save up for it and wants to experience the ultimate in relaxation. That was the whole purpose of this trip. We flew to the U.S. Virgin Islands and chartered a 32' sailboat ... along with a captain/guide. For the next four days we sailed around the various Virgin Islands (U.S. & British). If you want to experience your own private beach ... this is the way to go. We sailed for 4-6 hours a day - stopping in some cove or bay for lunch/swim/snorkel, then sailed on to our evening destination. There we again swam/snorkeled/walked the deserted beach, played in the sand ... whatever.

After our four day "cruise" we returned to St. Thomas where we spent a delightful three days doing ... nothing. We had rented the lower half of the house of the owners of the charter company ... their "Bed & Breakfast". Bright, sunny, breezy rooms. Most excellent sleeping - leave the windows open for the cool breeze through the evening/morning. Wake up and lay in bed for an hour listening to the breeze blow. We would then get up and read a few books, MAYBE go to town and see a local site or two. Then return for an afternoon of sitting listening to quite music, read another book ... just basically laze around. Just what the doctor ordered for a busy couple. Most relaxing, refreshing, rejuvenating vacation we have had in years. Check out some links at the bottom of this page for information I used to plan this trip.
